A Day Stopped for War, Land Divided among tribes of Israel

Joshua 7:1; 1 Chronicles 2:7; Joshua 7:2-9:27 (New Living Translation)

Ai Defeats the Israelites
Achan took articles from Jericho that God told them to totally destroy.  When the Israelites went up to conquer Ai, Ai defeated them because the Israelites disobeyed God's orders.

Achan’s Sin
God reveals to Joshua how to find out who sinned in the camp and to stone them and destroy their possessions.

The Israelites Defeat Ai

The Gibeonites Deceive Israel
The Gibeonites don't want to be destroyed, so they disguised themselves as being from far away and asked for safety and protection from the Israelites.  The leaders, Joshua included, made an agreement with them without consulting God.  Then they found out they were close neighbors, and became water carriers and woodcutters.

Jericho and Rahab, Wherever you walk in Jesus' Name is Holy Ground

Joshua 3-6:27 (New King James Version)

Israel Crosses the Jordan

How do you think you would feel if you saw several million people coming at ya?

Joshua told them to sanctify themselves for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders.  If we will sanctify ourselves, the LORD will do wonders in our lives too!

God caused the Jordan River, Salt Sea, to divide so the people could go over on dry ground!

The Memorial Stones

Each appointed man from the twelve tribes picks up a stone from the middle of the Jordan River to be a memorial of when they passed over on dry land.

The Lord exalts Joshua as leader as he had Moses.

The Second Generation Circumcised

Amorites and Canaanites hearts melted when they saw the power of God and all the Israelites.

None of the Israelites had been circumcised while wandering in the wilderness (desert) for 40 years so Joshua now gives the order.  The manna that had been sustaining them was no longer available because they were now able to harvest what was in the Promised Land.

The Commander of the Army of the LORD

15 Then the Commander of the LORD’s army said to Joshua, “Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy.” And Joshua did so.  The Commander is Jesus!

The Destruction of Jericho

The walls come down, Rahab and her family are saved!

Moses Dies, Easter Card for Along Side Incarcerated Ladies

Deuteronomy 33-34:12; Joshua 1-2:24 (New King James Version)

Moses' Final Blessing on Israel

Moses Dies on Mount Nebo

He died there, but no one knows where his grave is.

Since then, no one has known the LORD face to face.

I pray to know You face to face, to dwell in Your Presence, hallelujah.

God's Commission to Joshua

"Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon I will give to you."

The Order to Cross the Jordan

God now gives the command for the Israelites to cross the Jordan into the Promised Land.

Rahab Hides the Spies

Jericho is the first city across the Jordan.  Rahab lives in the wall of Jericho.  The citizens have heard of the power of God and the Israelites and they are afraid of what will happen to their city, so they go out to find the spies that Joshua has sent.  Rahab hides them in the roof of her home and helps them escape.  She believes in God and asks them to spare her and her family when they come to destroy Jericho.  The spies tell her to hang a red cord out her window and whoever is in her dwelling when Jericho is destroyed will live.

Yesterday, I got my first full paycheck in a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggg time.  Let me tell ya, this has been a very dry time in my life, but the hope that is Jesus has kept me free during the times of stress.  Scott will get his first partial paycheck on Thursday.  He is such a blessing in my life.  God has given us to each other to help us grow, kicking and screaming (not really, but maybe), into a higher level of service to Him!

We are having a Bible study that is title "Dressed to Kill" about wearing the full armor of God, and it has been very insiteful about how sin and Satan are trying to destroy each and every one of us.

THE BURNING HEART is today's devotional by Oswald Chambers.  If God lays something on your heart, it is best to act on it.
I had developed my Along Side cards for Easter plus one other mailer because there were 100 prints for $5.00, a blessing for sure.  Anyway, I didn't have the money to order them until yesterday, 3/21, and, I forgot to order them.  God woke me up at 3:30 a.m. and told me this!  So, I got on the internet, and Snapfish asked me too!  So, even though it was 3/22, I put in the code for the $5.00 prints, and, hallelujah, it was still good!  I didn't have money for stamps, and Along Side sent me enough to get through more than one mailer, hallelujah.  God is so faithful to give me inspiration to make these cards.  I certainly need it, hallelujah.
Here's the Easter one:

Moses to Die on Mount Nebo

Desert region before going across the Jordan, which Moses will not see because he did not speak to the Rock, but chose instead to strike it.  God, I pray that Your Word inspires me to never hit the Rock of my salvation.

A Prayer of Moses the Man of God

Today's Oswald Chambers devotional is about being identified with Christ's crucifixion - "It is no longer faith in faith, but faith which has overleapt all conscious bounds, the identical faith of the Son of God."

Deuteronomy 16:18-21:9 (New King James Version)

Justice Must be Administered

Don't take any bribes, it alters your attitude toward any case.  Don't plant anything that you are going to worship.

If you hear of anything wrong being done in camp, it must be searched diligently to be found if true.  There needs to be two or three witnesses, it cannot be just one to incriminate.  If judged to be true then that person(s) will be taken outside the gate and stoned to death, first by the witnesses and then by all.

Beware of False Gods

Deuteronomy 10-12:32 (New King James Version)

Good morning,
Yesterday they upgraded the Japan earthquake to 9.0.  Today I saw a headline that they have 48 hrs to get one of their nuclear things cooled off or there will be another major catastrophe.  I cannot even begin to imagine what those precious souls are going through, and lift them up in prayer.  There is so much going on in the world today, and God is still there, still the same as He was yesterday, and will be tomorrow.  He is waiting for you to reach out to Him, because without Him, there is absolutely no hope.

Obedience, and God's Greatest Commandment

Deuteronomy 6-9:29 (New King James Version)

The Greatest Commandment

5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
Caution Against Disobedience

We shall not tempt God with our attitudes and our sin.

A Chosen People

God has chosen Israel to occupy many nations and they are to stay a pure race, to not marry others because sin pollutes.  Israel is to go in and destroy their gods.

Blessings of Obedience

We must remember that no matter how big the problem is, God is on Our Side, HALLELUJAH!  We must stay in obedience to Him.  Those who hate us will have no impact because He has built a hedge about us, protecting us.

Remember the LORD Your God

Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord!

As a man chastens his son, so the Lord chastens you.

19 Then it shall be, if you by any means forget the LORD your God, and follow other gods, and serve them and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish. 20 As the nations which the LORD destroys before you, so you shall perish, because you would not be obedient to the voice of the LORD your God.

Aggghhhhhhh.  Ever had one of those days??????  Well, I did yesterday, where it seemed like everything was just on the raw edge..........  I got really aggravated, and bitter.  Well, I refuse to stay that way, in Jesus' name.  Those fiery darts and choices to feel and think that way are mine to accept, and to reject.  In Jesus' name, I rebuke those fiery darts and "what are they thinking" thoughts, and choose to push on for Christ.  I cannot make people serve You Father God, I can only pray that people will turn to you because You created them, in Your image, that You love them, that You have a plan for their lives.

God, I lift up my husband.  He is such a blessing.  He started a new job last week.  I lift him up, to have the strength to do this, to have the wisdom to be a supervisor, that his children would contact him, that he continue to make the choices to serve You, no matter what fiery darts are thrown at him or his paths.

Thank you Jesus, for dying on the cross for our sins and our sicknesses. Thank you God for your creation that goes on forever, for Your revelation of your Word. Thank you Holy Spirit that you are my Comforter, that you convict me of my sin and convict me of righteousness.

I pray for those precious souls in Japan, that they would come to a knowledge of Your saving grace throughout this time of devastation.

Gad and Reuben choose to stay on the east side of the Jordan

Numbers 32-33:56 (New King James Version)

The Tribes Settling East of the Jordan
The children of Reuben and Gad choose to stay on the east side of the Jordan - not going to the Promised Land.  Pastor Rens preached a sermon on the Gadarene demoniac and said that the reason they could not get control of him is because they did not have the power of God with them because they did not cross the Jordan.

wow.

So, they built a place for their families and sent armed soldiers to assist the rest of the tribes to settle on the other side of the Jordan and will not return until everyone is in place.

Instructions for the Conquest of Canaan
The Israelites were to go in and drive out all the people, destroy the gods, the high places, and engraved stones.  If they let anyone stay, they would become irritants to the children of Israel, and God said that He would do to them what he was going to do to the Canaanites.

Vows, Vengeance on Midianites, and Victory in the Camp

Numbers 30-31:54 (New King James Version)

The Law Concerning Vows
Very interesting.  Be careful what you vow.   I googled definition of vow, and it is a solemn act or promise to do or be something.  "I promise to quit drinking today." "I promise to witness to someone every day."

The law concerning vows during this Bible reading was concerning households, i.e. whether a man vowed, or whether a woman vowed.

Vengeance on the Midianites
They killed the five kings of Midian, and Balaam.

Return from the War
So, they returned with the women and children and booty from the war.  Moses was angry that they had brought into camp the very people that had caused the plague because of their harlotry and he told them to kill all the women that had known a man, and all the male children.

They also purified by fire and water all booty.

Division of the Plunder
Divided up according to the Lord, the priests, and the twelve tribes of Israel.

Yesterday was a war of souls.  God truly is so awesome.

Moses views the Promised Land, Joshua is appointed leader

Numbers 27-29:40 (King James Version)

There were 5 daughters of Zelophehad.  He had died and there were no brothers to carry on the father's name, nor was property given to them.  So, they presented themselves, and were given land for their inheritance.

Moses is told to go look out over the promised land on Mount Abarim.  He will not be able to enter.  Joshua is chosen as his successor.

The rest of today's readings has to do with offerings.

Lord Jesus, I offer my life as a consecration to You.

Numbers 25-26:65 (New King James Version)

Israel’s Harlotry in Moab
Some of the Israelites were playing the harlot with the people of Moab and a Midianite woman was caught and presented.  Phinehas ran a sword through her and the Israelite she was sleeping with.

God's wrath had started a plague and already 20,000 people had died, but because of Phinehas' actions, his dedication to God, the plague was stopped.  According to wikipedia, the Midianites traveled with the Moabites.  Just to clarify this blog:  I am not trying to add or take anything away from the inspired Word of the Most High Living God.  I am writing stuff to help me remember what happens as well as what is revealed to me during this time of communion with Him.  I love reading His Word, talking to Him, seeking Him, crying out to Him, walking with Him.

Balaam, the Donkey, and the Angel of the Lord

Numbers 22-24:25 (New King James Version)

Balak Sends for Balaam
Balak from the Moabites seeks out God's prophet, Balaam to curse God's people.  God tells Balaam to not curse the Israelites.  Balak keeps uping the ante and finally God tells Balaam to go, but to only speak His word which He tells him.
Balaam, the Donkey, and the Angel
God is verrrrrrrrry displeased that Balaam went with the princes of Balak and stands in the way 3 times.  Balaam's donkey sees the Angel and stops and Balaam hits her each time.  The third time, she falls and he still hits her, wishing he had a sword to kill her.  The Angel of the Lord opens her mouth and she asks why he is beating her.  Then He opens Balaam's eyes and tells him that if it wasn't for his donkey, He would have killed him!  Once again, He tells Balaam to only speak the words He tells him when he is with Balak.  He is not to curse the Israelites.

Canaanites Defeated at Hormah
God delivers the Canaanites into the hands of the Israelites - and they destroyed them.

The Bronze Serpent
Oops, here we go again.  The people are getting discouraged and complaining about being brought out of Egypt.  God sends fiery serpents to bite the people and they start dying.  They cry out to Moses saying they have sinned.  Moses has them make a fiery serpent and put on a pole for all to see so if they get bit and look on the serpent, they will be healed.  That must be where that symbol comes from that the medical industry wears, huh.

OOOOOO, Korah's Rebellion!

Numbers 16-18:32 (New King James Version)

Rebellion Against Moses and Aaron
Korah, and 250 others decided Moses had too much power and they wanted some of it.  Be careful when you want to usurp the authority of others.  If God has them there for a specific purpose, you will be on very dangerous ground.  You better be on the side of Moses.

The earth opened up and swallowed them, their wives, children and possessions!

Complaints of the People
Aghhhhh, what are they thinking!  So the Israelites complained that God had killed their people.  God tells Moses to separate himself from them.  Moses intercedes and tells Aaron to go into the throng with a censor.  By the time they do this, the plague has already killed 14,700 people.  Don't mess with God.

Israel won't cross into Promised Land!

Numbers 14-15:41 (New King James Version)

Israel Refuses to Enter Canaan
So, the Israelites want to go back to Egypt, and Joshua and Caleb try to tell them that the land is truly a gift of God and they want to stone them!

Moses and prays for the Israelites.  God wants to kill em and start over.  Moses says it will get back to Egypt what has happened and to not do that.  So God relinquishes and says that generation will never see the Promised Land and turns them to the wilderness (desert) by Way of the Red Sea.

Because of their 40 day rebellion, they will spend one year for each day in the desert.  Anyone above the age of 20 will die in the desert.  Only Joshua and Caleb will live to see the Promised Land.

A Futile Invasion Attempt
So, the people changed their mind and repented and decided to go fight the Canaanites and Amalekites.  Moses told them not to go because the Lord was not with them.  They went anyway and were driven back.

If we decide to do our own will instead of God's will, we will not succeed to the level He has for us, if we have any manner of success at all.

Quails from Whining

Numbers 4-5:31 (New King James Version)

Duties of the Sons of Kohath
Duties of the Sons of Gershon
Duties of the Sons of Merari
Census of the Levites
I had wondered why these had special places around the camps.  They had specific roles in transport of the tabernacle when God told them to move, 40 years in the desert.

It is very specific, God is very specific on how to handle His property.  Oh that we would choose to continue that respect.

Numbers 11-13:33 (New King James Version)

The People Complain - We hear this alot, can you say amen!

God gets displeased and His fire starts killing people on the outer edges.  Moses prays to the Lord, and He stops killing them.

Update!  My job is going well, got a key yesterday, which means they are liking my work speed enough to keep me, huh.  AND......Scott will be the new Maintenance Supervisor at a complex where I used to live many years ago!  AND.....He is being hired at MORE than what was advertised!  Hallelujah!!!!!!  He doesn't know when he will start because of drug testing so, if it isn't until a week from now, he goes to house and puppy sit in Safford for a few days while Jeff and Gladys go somewhere - a pre-vacation huh.  I get to go to Conference, I get to go to Conference, I get to go to Conference!!!!!!!!

Now, back to the complaining Israelites, Moses' intercessory prayer, and the wrath of God and how prayer for the lost sheep of Israel changes destruction.........

So, the people are tired of manna and long for the food they had in Egypt and God says that they shall have so much meat to eat for 30 days that it will be coming out of their nostrils.

Moses wants to know how that can happen because of the quantity of people 600k men plus women and children - is he supposed to slaughter all the flocks and herds to feed them meat?  God lets him know that there will be no flocks and herds consumed - He will provide the meat.  Oh, that we would remember that God provides all, that we are just His creation that He wants us to choose to serve Him.

God chooses 70 chosen men to prophesy for a time.  Two men in the camp were also given voices of prophesy and Joshua wanted to know if they were to be punished and Moses asked him if he was jealous.

The LORD Sends Quail - The air is thick with quail.  People are gathering and harvesting quail and while they are in their teeth, God strikes a plague on them and they die on the spot.

Miriam and Aaron speak against Moses.  God defends Moses, strikes Miriam with leprosy.  Aaron and Moses pray for her, God says she needs to be away from the camp for 7 days and then He will heal her.

12 Spies sent into Canaan

So, they were gone for 40 days and came back with a good/bad report.  The land had awesome food, but the people were huge and many and and and.  They FORGOT that God had told them the lands were occupied but that He would drive them out as they got there.

Same goes for us!  He is orchestrating circumstances in our lives so we just move in!

Hallelujah!
